Start from Luxor

Your day will begin early in the morning, as you'll depart from Luxor to head north to Dendera and Abydos, which are located approximately 60–90 minutes apart from each other. Dendera is about 60 kilometers north of Luxor, while Abydos is around 170 kilometers further.

Dendera is home to the Temple of Hathor, one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt. The temple is dedicated to the goddess Hathor, the goddess of love, music, and fertility.

Drive to Abydos Temple

After visiting Dendera, you’ll continue your journey to Abydos, which takes another 60-90 minutes, depending on traffic.

Abydos is one of Egypt’s most important religious sites, historically known as the place where Osiris, the god of the afterlife, was buried. The main temple at Abydos was built by Seti I, and it is famous for its impressive reliefs and the Abydos King List, a detailed record of the Pharaohs who ruled Egypt up to the time of Seti I.

Return to Luxor

After your exploration of Abydos, you'll begin the drive back to Luxor. The entire trip typically takes around 9-10 hours, depending on the amount of time spent at each site and the travel conditions.

The tour will usually include a lunch break at a local restaurant or along the way. Lunch typically includes traditional Egyptian dishes, allowing you to rest and enjoy the local flavors before continuing your journey.
