Currency: The local currency is the Egyptian Pound (EGP), but U.S. Dollars and Euros are also widely accepted in larger cities. When traveling outside of Cairo, it’s advisable to have local currency on hand.
Exchanging Money: Currency exchange offices and ATMs are readily available in tourist areas like Cairo and Luxor. However, they may be fewer in more remote areas like Siwa Oasis or the White Desert.
ATMs: Many ATMs in Egypt accept international credit and debit cards, but check with your bank about international transaction fees.
Small Purchases: For smaller items, like souvenirs or snacks, always carry cash. Some markets and smaller businesses do not accept cards.
